Since the very beginning of the year I have been making blog posts week after week. Sometimes it has been easy and I was able to quickly turn out an interesting post in 10 minutes. Sometimes it has been harder and I've had to think over my post struggling to find the right words to say in the prompt. Personally I've found blog posts a useful way to reflect on the material we learned in class and fully process it. Every once in a while when I didn't fully understand the material I would discover something to make it click for me as the blog post forces me to go deeper than I normally do. It was also fun to watch my website grow as I continued adding blog posts and artwork. Not only that but having a space to be able to express myself with what we were doing in class was great.

I have learned a lot in Sci. vis. this year. from PS to Illustrator and even 3ds Max everything has been a new experience to me. The only graphics program I had used before this year was fireworks and to be able to learn how to use new programs was very valuable to me. To me the most valuable thing I learned was how to use photoshop effectively. As someone looking at game design as a career being able to use PS is a must. Without Sci. Vis. I would have a hard time even getting my hands on the software. The hardest things to learn was 3ds Max because of how many different ways there are to do one thing without even really understanding what you're doing. For next year I'd just suggest that you find more tutorials that actually explain what you're doing in 3ds Max is actually doing to what you're working with. |
